Procedures

Physicians who would be interested in recruiting study participants must follow these steps:

  1. Submit a request to access the protected documents of the site
    Fill in the Physician application to become a participant form. You will receive by email a confirmation that you request has been transmitted. 
  2. Sign the confidentiality agreement 
    When your credentials have been validated, you will receive a confidentiality agreement that you must sign and return to the project administrator at the MUHC's Centre for Innovative Medicine (private communication by email or postal mail.)  
  3. Access the protected resources of the site
    When the agreement is received and approved, you will gain access to the training videos and to the Study startup material.  You can fill in the training log and send it to the MUHC's Centre for Innovative Medicine.  
  4. Autorization to begin recrutement
    Once you have completed the required training, you will be authorized to begin recruitment of patients.

Eligible patients who want to use cannabis must sign an information and consent form and answer a short survey.  The treating physician will proceed to the evaluation of the patient and will record the information on a case report form (CRF). When the information is complete, the authorisation process will proceed in accordance with the normal practice. The case report form must be faxed to the Central registration office.  The treating physician will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of the CRF.

Participating physicians will receive reminders to complete the follow-up questionnaires.
